Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

I'm sick of K-Lo's papalalooza already.
It seriously creeps me out how she is fawning and gushing over this pedophile enabler.  And this:

Unholy Hold-up   [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

Senate sources tell me Barbara Boxer is the holdup on the Casey-supported resolution because of life language. Give it up. It's the pope. He said God bless America.

Or let's have this fight, Boxer. You really want to oppose the pope? Any Dems want to come out on record supporting her?

Is K-Lo seriously suggesting the Pope gets to influence American law-making?  WTF?  What about the separation of church and state?
Awwwww, K-Lo......don't be bitter

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

Hitch gets some of it.

Christopher Hitchens
My Response to Benedict

Tuesday, Pope Benedict said he is "deeply ashamed" of the scandal and assured Catholics that seminaries will not tolerate pedophiles. "It is a great suffering for the Church in the United States, for the Church in general and for me personally that this could happen," Benedict told reporters. "If I read the stories of these victims, it is difficult for me to understand how it was possible that priests betrayed in this way their mission to give healing, to give love of God to these children."

In his response, the Pontiff has utterly mis-stated the nature of the clerical pedophilia scandal. The scandal is not the presence of pedophiles in the church, but the institutionalization of child-rape by the knowing protection and even promotion (by non-pedophiles) of those who are guilty of it. The most grievous offender in this respect is Cardinal Bernard Law, currently an honored figure at the Vatican. This expression of contempt for the victims makes the Pope himself a direct accomplice in the very atrocity that he affects to denounce.

Please note the Pope couched his apology to "the Church in the United States."
My eurofriends call this "the American problem."  They say this is due to "the American culture of litigation".  My friends say that pedophile priests are still very common, especially in Italy, where they are simply moved on to another parish.
And that only in America do the pedophile priests get caught and exposed.

John McCain wasn't there.
Hmm...praps Pastor John Hagee's endorsement put the Pope off.
But McCain hasn't been baptized yet!
Maybe Benedict can do that while he's on tour here.  As an antidote to the ever toxic Hagee Effect on the catholic voting block.

Benedict is a bad shepherd, just like like John Paul.
Both of them always cared more for the shepherds than for the sheep.
