Tomorrow, the big dog is coming to UC Davis to endorse Dr. Ami Bera (D) in his close race with Republican incumbent, Dan Lungren, in the 7th district:

Former President Bill Clinton is coming to the Sacramento area Tuesday to throw his support behind four Democrats running in some of the country's most closely watched congressional races.

Clinton is scheduled to appear alongside incumbent Democratic Reps. John Garamendi and Jerry McNerney and challengers Ami Bera and Jose Hernandez at a 10:30 a.m. rally at the University of California, Davis, campus.

All four candidates are running in districts that are considered top targets by both Democrats and Republicans as they battle for control of the U.S. House of Representatives. National party organizations and federal super PACs are already spending heavily in the Sacramento media market, which covers all four seats. - Sacramento Bee 10/6/12

Dr. Bera has made the Dean Dozen and Daily Kos' Orange To Blue list.  Dr. Bera is a great progressive candidate running in a very tight race against Lungren, who is just another soldier in the War On Women:

Congressman Dan Lungren is a leader in the Republican War on Women, and has voted repeatedly to deny women their basic rights.

Recently, Congressman Lungren:

Voted to defund Planned Parenthood
(Roll Call Vote #2011-93; H.R. 1; 2/18/11)

After House Republicans held a hearing on women’s access to birth control that included testimony from 5 men AND NO WOMEN, as Chair of the House Administration Committee, Congressman Lungren refused to televise Sandra Fluke's testimony in favor of insurance coverage for contraception.

Voted AGAINST Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which would ensure equal pay for women.
(Roll Call Vote #2011-9; H.R. 11; 1/9/09)

Called the Obama Administration’s contraception mandate for insurance companies an “assault” on the First Amendment.

Championed a bill to BAN all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest.
It's time to hold Congressman Lungren accountable for his stone-age views on women, and attacks on women’s basic rights.

Lungren does not deserve another term in Congress, and we are going to work hard to defeat him in November.

Dr. Bera has been endorsed by NARAL.  You can learn more about Dr. Bera here:

Ami Bera has always believed in hard work and community service—and refuses to accept a future where our children and grandchildren don’t have the amazing opportunities that he did. A first generation American, Ami benefited from California’s public schools, from kindergarten through medical school.

After he graduated, Ami put his degree to work for us, serving Sacramento County as Chief Medical Officer. He used his skills as a tough negotiator to fight to reduce the cost of health care, create jobs, and deliver care to tens of thousands of Sacramento residents.

Ami went on to become a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Admissions and Outreach at UC Davis, where he taught the next generation of doctors to care for patients. He helped the student-run clinics find innovative ways to engage with the community and deliver care to those who needed it the most.

Ami and his wife Janine live in Elk Grove with their daughter, Sydra. Today, he’s running for Congress because Washington needs a new kind of leadership. As our Representative, he will put people first. That is the only way we can create jobs, save Medicare, and bring about a better future for our children and grandchildren.

Here is where Dr. Bera stands on the issues:

Making Washington Work
Sacramento County needs a bold leader who sees Congress as an opportunity to serve. Like the oath I took to become a Doctor, I take another solemn oath to put people first. In Congress, I pledge:

To oppose Congressional pay raises until unemployment is below 5% in Sacramento County.

To lead the charge against absurd Congressional perks, like flying first class on the taxpayer’s dime.

Not to take a Congressional pension until Medicare and Social Security are secure for all Americans.

To sponsor No Budget, No Pay—a law that says if Congress doesn’t do their job and pass a responsible budget, they don’t get paid.
We face a record jobless rate, a health care crisis, and a crumbling school system that is failing our children. The time for political games is over. We need results.

As Chief Medical Officer of Sacramento County, I was a tough negotiator in my mission to bring down health care costs, create jobs, and bring health care to tens of thousands of people.

Moving America Forward
The world is changing. We need the clear vision and united will to move forward as a nation without forsaking the core values that have always made America great. I am running for Congress because I believe the moment is right to bring new energy to the American story, with the faith that together we can establish a more just, compassionate, and healthy world. With the right leadership and a collective effort, we can create:

An Economy that encourages competition and innovation. We need a vibrant economy
that preserves the jobs we have while creating new ones through job training, especially in clean energy technologies. We can build on the strengths of our local communities by helping small businesses grow and rewarding companies that create good jobs here in Sacramento County.

A Health Care system that provides compassionate and essential coverage that puts patients ahead of profits. The new health care law is a step towards increasing access to basic medical coverage. However, this is only the first step and we must continue fighting the insurance companies to truly reduce costs.

An Education system that provides creative, nurturing, and safe environments for our children, from early education through high school and college. In order to prepare our kids to compete in the global economy and win the best jobs of tomorrow, we have to continue investing in education.

A “Smart” and “Green” approach to using our natural resources to power our communities that is both environmentally and economically wise. We must recognize the crucial intersection of environmental reform, job creation, and national security.

A Social Security system that continues to protect millions of Americans, of every age, from poverty. We must do more to protect this vital program—which is why I’ve signed a pledge to protect Social Security, and fight all efforts to privatize this program and gamble with our future in the stock market. Protecting Social Security also means keeping government’s hands off of the Social Security Trust Fund. Instead of borrowing against our children’s future, we can reduce our deficit by streamlining government and closing tax loopholes for corporations and the rich.

Equal Pay for Equal Work. I support the Lilly-Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 and the Paycheck Fairness Act to protect employers from gender-based wage-discrimination. Supporting equal pay for equal work and protecting employees from wage discrimination isn’t just the right thing to do, it also provides vital support to working families who are struggling to make ends meet during these difficult times. In contrast, Dan Lungren voted against the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and opposed equal pay for equal work (S 181, Vote #37, 1/27/09).

Please join me to move America forward, reclaim the dream, and create a more whole and prosperous future for us all.

We need another strong voice for women's rights and the middle class in congress and if we want to put the gavel back in Pelosi's hand, lets help Dr. Bera win.  If you can't make the even, please be sure to help out Dr. Bera's campaign:
