Darth Vader: There is a great disturbance in the force. I have felt it.
Darth Issa: U.S. Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.
Darth Vader: Yes. What is his agenda?
Darth Issa: He has no agenda. I am shutting down his plans so then the Sith can go in and take over. Mismanagement and dysfunction are clouding the thinking of the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department.
Darth Vader: Good. Your Iraq War votes have been impressive, most impressive.
Darth Issa: Shinseki is on the run and has nowhere to hide.
Darth Vader: He will join us or die.
On the other hand, this is a news story and nevertheless, it is worth reporting, even though we can of course criticize both the Washington Examer and Darth Vader himself.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-CA, stopped just short of calling for the resignation of Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Edward Shinseki today.Leadership crisis eh Mr. Issa? And you demonstrated better leadership during the run-up to and the handling of the Iraq War during President Bush's tenure?
"There is an evident leadership crisis at the Department of Veterans Affairs that is distracting from its core mission of providing timely assistance to our nation's heroes," Issa said in response to the resignation of a second VA official in the wake of an Inspector-General report and revelations by The Washington Examiner of wasteful spending on employee conferences.
"When outrageous spending abuses at General Services Administration conferences were first brought to light, it seemed unlikely that GSA was the only government agency was abusing taxpayer dollars. We now know that the Veterans Affairs Department also failed to exercise proper stewardship over the American people's money," Issa said. He was referring to revelations in The Washington Post of a costly GSA conference in Las Vegas, including a photo of a senior agency official sitting in a bathtub.Abusing taxpayer dollars? Yeah, abusing is the right word alright. Darth Vader himself knows it well since he was Congressman during the Bush years. Behold is evidence cited from On the Issues:
"While the head of the GSA resigned so that her agency could begin rebuilding lost trust, the parade of VA officials slowly stepping down over several months without accepting responsibility is a troubling sign that the VA is not yet positioned to move beyond this abuse," Issa said.
Asked if Issa thinks Shinseki should follow the same path, a spokesman for the committee chairman said "I don't think it's there yet."
Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)Granted of course there is better evidence why Darth Vader is becoming, should I say, very cunning in the way he is smooth talking his way through the B.S. he's saying. Funny he is also doing this to Shinseki as Vader himself spend ten years serving in the military. One wonders how he really served.
Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on approving removal of Saddam & valiant service of US troops. (Mar 2004)
Voted YES on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
Well, if there's anyone who doesn't take Darth Vader's B.S., it's inquiry hero Rep. Henry Waxman:
Don't you just love Darrell Issa? I mean, isn't he FANTASTIC?
Shha, and monkeys fly out of my butt!
