It occurs to me, watching all the first responders in Boston---all the police officers and EMS crews and national guard members who worked WITH the countless citizens who rushed in to help those who needed help; all the first responders at the Texas blast, many who have lost their lives; all the first responders on 9/11; and all the first responders who put their lives on the line every single day in service to their fellow citizens---that these are the people that Wayne LaPierre and his cronies are ginning up fear against when they say the government wants to take away our "freedoms". And yet he and the anti-gun control crowd are the same ones who insist that we not cut our military spending even though we spend more on the military than the next 13 countries combined. These are the same people who cheered on the passage of the Patriot Act, which allows for warrantless searches of anyone the government deems suspicious, and allows for monitoring of virtually every phonecall you make and allows for collection of all your emails and all cloud information without a warrant.

Let's play pretend here. Do you really think that by not allowing citizens to enact laws to stop the strawman sales of guns at gun shows that fuel the illegal gun trade, by not allowing citizens to enact laws requiring background checks and registration and training before one can purchase a gun, that you will be able to overcome the vast military force that you have helped build up when the government does decide to come for your freedoms?

It just doesn't make sense.
