Saturday, May 11, 2013 is the First Annual Maryland Gun Turn-In Day.
the gun turn-in event will allow anyone to surrender illegal or unwanted handguns, rifles, shotguns or air guns to local law enforcement, no questions asked. No personal identification will be required.http://www.oag.state.md.us/...
"This gives family members the opportunity to remove illegal and unwanted guns from the home that they fear would be used to harm themselves or others," added the Attorney General.
The no questions asked policy and no identification allows people to turn in guns that may have been obtained illegally without worrying about being charged with a crime.
The gun turn-in day will also allow those who have guns and no longer want to own them to easily get rid of them without having to worry that the guns will end up in the wrong hands.
That this event is being publicized as "The First Annual" indicates that the Attorney General intends to make this event a yearly event.
