Payday loans... unsecured loans at 400% per year.
Auto title loans... secured loans at 400% per year.
Pension loans... sacrificing your old age so you can live until you get there.
Fraudulant mortgage loans... so they can steal your house in a couple of years.
LIBOR manipulation of interest rates... so a few can illicitly make billions while the rest of us pay them off.

From the sleaziest local payday loan mill to the sleaziest financial behemoth with tentacles reaching throughout the world's economy, they are all sleazy.  Did I inform you yet how sleazy I think they all are?

The only way to fight them is to join together, to realize we are not alone, and that debt has become a societal plague, not something to be ashamed about. Strike Debt Bay Area presents our second Debtors' Assembly. Come, participate, and help us figure out how to begin the process of resistance.

Debt keeps us isolated, ashamed, and afraid - of becoming homeless, of going hungry, of being crippled or killed by treatable illness, or of being trapped in poverty-level jobs. Those facing foreclosure, medical debt, student debt, or credit card debt feel alone, hounded by debt collectors, and forced into unrewarding work to keep up with payments.
