Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis filibustering SB5, a bill restricting abortion.
Wendy Davis shows how it's done.
That, you probably know by now, is Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis, who successfully led an historic talking filibuster against what would have been one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.

She showed the entire country what democracy is really supposed to look like, and found at least one prominent admirer:

Wendy Davis engaged in the kind of filibuster I can support. #standwithwendy #SB5

Hey! Here's a thought, Sen. Reid: Do it. You can get behind a talking filibuster like they have in Texas and just do it. Here's the brilliant thing about it—you wouldn't be abolishing the filibuster, you'd be keeping the filibuster in all its glorious tradition, just like you saw in Texas Tuesday night. Surely that's something you could get 50 of your Democratic colleagues behind.

Tuesday night in Austin was a dramatic reminder of what democracy is supposed to look like, what it is supposed to be. And it's only a motion on the U.S. Senate floor away.

Keep the pressure on. Send an email to your Democratic senators telling them to make the Senate function again.
