I don't think he sold himself as anything but who he has been as President and the majority of people in this country elected him twice. Yes, some of those people voted for him as the lesser of two evils. But I voted for Obama a second time with pride and honestly, I don't think I could be happier with the President he has been. Oh, sure, on the margins, I wish some things were better, but on the margins, I wish I did some things better in my own life. All things considered, I think he's doing a wonderful job.
But maybe you don't. And maybe you don't because you have principled disagreements and even opposition to how he governs. I respect that. Everyone has their own ideas about how this country should work. Your opinion is as important as any of the other over 300 million people living in this country.
My neighbor who's outside walking his dog... your opinion is as important as his.
The older man who was riding his bike down the country road my wife and I were driving down this morning... your opinion is as important as his.
The young lady who sold me Altoids at the gas station and asked how my day is going... your opinion is as important as hers.
Your opinion and my opinion and their opinion and the opinions of all of the rest of the over 300 million people who live in this country are all equally important.
Your opinion is that Obama is a sellout. Well, I totally disagree. But do you know what? I'm not going to argue with you about it. Just like I am not going to argue with my neighbor outside about their opinion about Obama, whatever it is.
Why? Because it's just 2 opinions out of over 300 million. I have been arguing about Obama for 5 years and I finally just decided today that enough is enough. I like him. I feel happy about liking him. You don't. Well, life goes on. I am not going to defend my opinion to you and I am not going to tell you that your opinion is wrong. I know yours. You now know mine. There it is. And now I hope that you have a nice Sunday afternoon. I know that I am going to try to myself.
