Received this e-mail today from Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D NH) regarding the Shaheen-Portman energy efficiency bill:
I’ve crafted a bipartisan energy efficiency bill that promotes energy conservation, reduces waste, creates 136,000 new jobs and saves consumers and businesses $13.7 billion – all without adding a cent to the deficit!

But Republican obstructionists are loading up the bill with unrelated amendments solely aimed at stopping it.

The bill is currently on the Senate floor, and a vote could happen any moment – but not if the Republicans have their way. Now is the time to make a breakthrough for consumers and the environment. I’m counting on engaged citizens like you to overcome the last-ditch partisan obstructionism.

Click here to join me and Sens. Coons, Gillibrand, Pryor, Schatz and Udall in calling on Congress to pass the Shaheen-Portman energy bill:

This bill takes on a massive problem: 86% of energy in America is wasted. By using new tools to improve efficiency in commercial, residential and government buildings, we can reduce emissions by an amount equivalent to 5 million cars by 2025.

Shaheen-Portman boosts efficiency, promotes energy independence and creates new jobs. We can’t let Republican obstructionism get in the way of legislation that moves us forward.

We need you to stand with us now to insist that Congress pass this legislation.

Please add your name to send a clear message to Congress: Reduce energy waste by passing Shaheen-Portman:
