Hello again painting fans.
This week I will continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
There's hardly an area of the canvas that hasn't seen some change. First, I've reconfigured the orange highlights of the central section. I've reshaped and refined things a bit and added a few new highlights. Next, I moved on the the two trees in the foreground. They now have lit and shadowed areas. I've attempted to give them a nice evergreen texture. Finally, I've completed the sky. The photo has reduced the contrast somewhat. In the upper right corner is the long area of cloud seen in the photo. To the far rear are the clouds in the great distance, some white and others dark against the sky. The painting is now complete.
