Received this e-mail today from Rep, Bruce Braley (D. IA) who is running for Senator Tom Harkin's (D. IA) seat:
The 2010 Citizens United decision was a huge blow to our campaign finance system. It unleashed a firestorm of special interest spending in our elections: including nearly $625,000 right here in Iowa.

But there’s an even scarier storm brewing.

It’s a court case called McCutcheon vs. the FEC, and it would allow right-wing billionaires like the Koch brothers to saturate our federal election system with even more cash.

Friend -- the middle class deserves to have their voices heard, not to be overwhelmed by millions of dollars in ads from special interests. Add your voice to mine and sign the petition to stop a tidal wave of money from flowing into our election system:

We need more transparency and accountability in our election system. And we’re never going to get that if the voices of the middle class are buried under even more spending in our elections.

Citizens United was a giant leap backward for the common sense campaign finance safeguards that have protected the voices of Iowa families for years. McCutcheon could do even more damage.

This is our chance to make perfectly clear that our grassroots network stands 100% opposed to Citizens United, McCutcheon, and any other attempts to wash away campaign finance safeguards.

Stand with me -- sign the petition right now:

Thanks for all your help,
