Not that I want to throw it in your face mind you, just that I can.

Today it warmed up from an 8 to a 12 in just a few hours.  Of course there was a time when I'd walk to work (about 2 miles) in -2 so this is positively balmy, a regular tropical paradise.

And yes, I did spend every minute I possibly could in bed with the covers pulled tight.

But I'm far past apologizing for the quality of my work.  You've only yourselves to blame anyway.  Any one of you could step forward at any time and spare us all.

Tomorrow, unless someone does, you'll get a future published edition on which I've spent even less time than this and in any event I won't be around to respond until Thursday morning's re-runs.

Better than nothing which I suppose will be my epitaph.

Tonight we will have Steve Coogan, on Television he's kind of a British Ron Burgundy and unlike Will Ferrell his film opened at number one.  He voiced Silas Ramsbottom in Despicable Me 2 and is up for many awards for his role as Martin Sixsmith in Philomena which tells the story of Philomena Lee's 50-year-long search for the son she had given up for adoption (Martin Sixsmith is a real person, a journalist and political advisor, who used his contacts to help Philomena in her search and wrote a book about it).

John Seigenthaler was the weekend anchor of NBC News for 8 years and now works for Al Jazeera.  At that, by comparison, he's rather conventional.

Starting with tomorrow, for which I really need a substitute, the rest of the week looks like this-

The Daily Show

* Wednesday 1/8: Richard Cordray
* Thursday 1/9: Scarlett Johansson

The Colbert Report

* Wednesday 1/8: Ishmael Beah
* Thursday 1/9: Jeff Skoll

If I haven't heard from someone by noon tomorrow I'll do the future publish thing and there will be nothing I can do to stop it as I will be unavailable and without Internet access.  Better you should let me know tonight as I have plenty of other things to do in the morning.
