Virgia's election results website 1/8/2014
Sam Rasoul candidate for delegate in Virginia's 11th district has won handily over the Republican Octavia Johnson.

Only one other special election will be held to fill an empty seat.

Before the November elections, the senate was split evenly 20 Democrats and 20 Republicans but the Republican Lt Governor was the tie breaker, making the Senate Republican.

If the Democrats can retake the empty seat (formerly that of the new Attorney General), the incoming Democratic Lt General will hold the tie breaker, making the Virginia Democratic which should help in incoming Democratic Governor role back some of the virulent anti-woman actions.

Gov.-Elect Terry McAuliffe has already indicated that he will expand Medicaid and intends to work toward restoring women from 2nd class citizenry.
