Received this e-mail from Governor Mark Dayton's (D. MN) re-election campaign today:
A recent report shows that 46 school districts in Minnesota turn students away from the lunch line if they can’t pay – leaving them to go hungry all day.

This is unacceptable. Students who go hungry for lack of money can’t learn or perform as well as they can on a full stomach – not to mention that it just isn’t right. No student should ever be turned away from a hot, nutritious lunch just because his or her parents can’t pay.

Governor Dayton is standing up for students against this alarming problem, because he believes all children deserve a healthy lunch. Last week, he announced plans to make better funding for school lunches a top priority for the upcoming legislative session.

Time and again, Governor Dayton has fought for Minnesota students. He has pushed for all-day kindergarten, tuition freezes and much more – and thanks to his efforts, we’ve seen these great improvements for our students become reality.

Now, let’s stand with him again for disadvantaged Minnesota students who need our help. Join Governor Dayton in favor of providing healthy lunches for all students.
