Rep. Shelley Moore Capito
House Republicans, home for the long spring recess, have been having some trouble dealing with the new reality that Obamacare is actually helping people, while they've not been able to offer anything but repeal. That's a problem, and it's an even bigger problem if you are asking your constituents to give you a promotion, like Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, (R-WV) is. She's running for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, and is doing a crazy Obamacare dance to deflect from her 50-plus repeal votes of the law.
Mrs. Capito, 60 years old, said she has long served as a "good listener" and advocate for the state at a time when, she says, the Democratic Party has abandoned mainstream West Virginia values through regulations that harm the coal industry and the Affordable Care Act. Acknowledging that Mr. Obama is unlikely to agree to repeal his health law, Mrs. Capito said she would focus on making it "less painful and more manageable."
Note to Mrs. Capito: President Obama has never been likely to agree to repeal his health law, even when you were touting your repeal votes in press releases. She's had three years to work with Democrats to find ways to fix the law, they've been more than willing.
