My wife and I recently moved back to Massachusetts after living in Georgia to care for a family member. I have one credit union account that I've not yet transferred over to my MA credit union.
This morning I received an email from the GA credit union (Georgia's Own Credit Union) letting me know they were hosting Republican Senator, Jack Murphy. WTF? Is this normal for a credit union, or any bank, to have a meet-and-greet with political candidates?
We chose to pull our monies from the big banks in order to stop, in essence, funding people like Mr. Murphy.
Have you seen his voting record? It reads something like a true American horror story. In true "conservative" fashion, you'd best hope you're not anything but a hetero white xian male in his district. Here, take a look for yourself.
Have you heard of such a thing as bank-sponsored candidate... let me rephrase that... have you ever heard of a credit union hosting a political candidate inside of their bank for what looks to be a town hall meeting as you will have a chance to "discuss topics important to you?" Really, I want to know - is this sort of thing normal?
At any rate, I am hoping fellow GA liberals will take this opportunity to give Mr. Murphy a visit and let him know just what's on your mind. Afterwards, feel free to give GA's Own Credit Union a few choice words as well.
