I know, I know. You didn't think it was possible for ANYONE to be more repugnant on immigration than Donald "mass deportation" Trump. But Ted Cruz begs to differ, reports Andrew Kaczynski.
The Texas senator, who is leading the field of Republican presidential candidates in Iowa according to the latest polls, was asked by a man in the state if, like Trump, he believed that all undocumented immigrants should be deported.
Cruz replied, “Absolutely yes.”
“And in fact, look, there’s a difference,” said Cruz. “He’s advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens. I oppose that.”
Oh, Ted, nicely done! Trump's mass deportations, not good enough. Rubio's 10-year and possibly a lifetime waiting period for citizenship, not good enough. But forcible mass deportations without a prayer of reentry, that'll do it! Get your checkbooks out, nativists.
