Unless you’ve been on a trek deep in Banff National Park, you’ve spent the last week enjoying the spectacle of Donald Trump “just asking” questions about Ted Cruz’s citizenship status. Plenty of lesser loudmouths have since piled on, and many other Republicans have simply refused to take sides. The latest to shove Cruz away like he’s about to get strafed by a malfunctioning ED-209 is none other than the chair of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus:
Q: A topic in the news today: Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Is he constitutionally eligible to be President?
A: Listen, I don’t get involved. I’m not going to get in the middle of all these candidate issues. It’s a bad place for me to be. I’ll let all these folks argue about this stuff, and I’m going to stay out of it.
Yeah, man, Calgary—that’s definitely a bad place to be!
