Jeb! Bush has some seriously sour grapes over Jerry Falwell Jr. endorsing Donald Trump. Asked whether he thinks Trump is even a Christian, Bush answered “No, I don’t know what he is,” though his campaign later insisted Bush wasn’t saying “no, Trump isn’t a Christian,” but saying “I disagree with the premise of the question and don’t know what Trump is.” Uh-huh. As for the Falwell endorsement:
“For a guy who has stated he has never sought forgiveness, it’s hard to imagine how someone who is a strong believer would embrace that idea. There may be other reasons that Mr Falwell is supporting him,” Bush said.
Bush may be afraid to take Falwell on as directly as he does Trump, but that’s some Grade A passive-aggressive bitterness right there.
If Falwell has “other reasons” to support Trump, so do a lot of Christians, according to the polling. A new Pew survey finds that while a majority of Republican respondents don’t see Trump as a religious person, a majority do think he’d be a good or great president. Poor Jebby.
