Months after Donald Trump compared the famed neurosurgeon’s questionable stories about his violent past to child molestation, Ben Carson has endorsed Trump for president, saying “We buried the hatchet. That was political stuff.”
"There are two different Donald Trumps," Carson said at the billionaire's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. "There's the one you see on the stage and there's the one who is very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully. You can have a very good conversation with him. That's the Donald Trump that you're going to start seeing more and more of."
Trump first agreed with the “two Donald Trumps” theory, then announced that, no, “I don't think there are two Donald Trumps. I think there's one Donald Trump.” I guess that’s good?
Trump had first announced Carson’s forthcoming endorsement at Thursday night’s debate in the context of education, which seemed … somewhat random. But apparently not. At Friday morning’s endorsement event, Trump again brought up education as an area where Carson might advise him. It’s not clear what Carson’s qualifications on education issues are, but then, that could be said about Carson and virtually any issue other than neurosurgery—and ego.
