Turns out Ted Cruz does have principles and, since he's the closest thing to beating Donald Trump, perhaps we can take some comfort in that. On Monday, Cruz carved out one scenario under which he wouldn't support Trump if he's the Republican presidential nominee, reports Sara Jerde.
"I can give you one example where I would no longer support Donald Trump," Cruz told reporters in Illinois. "If for example, he were to go out on Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, I would not be willing to support Donald Trump."
Cruz was referencing Trump's quip from January, when the real estate mogul said he could "stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters."
That's really the most we can expect from Cruz. He's basically taken a blood oath to support the GOP nominee no matter who it is, what he says, or what he does, save one exception now: A Fifth Avenue shooting rampage.
