We can all understand that one can be opposed both to police killing people and police being killed, right? The organizers of the Dallas rally against police violence at which five police officers were killed certainly can:
"We want Dallas to know that violence of any kind we condemn," [Dominique] Alexander said in a 3 a.m. phone interview. "We continue to stand with the families of these officers and pray with them, as well as we stand with the families of Alton Sterling and Philando in Minnesota." [...]
"We didn't want anyone else to die," [Dr. Jeff Hood] said. "That is the reason we did the protest. ... Violence doesn't heal anybody."
Killing people is bad. It’s not an advanced principle that’s hard to grasp. It’s wrong for people to be singled out because of their race. It’s wrong for people to be singled out because of their public service.
