The latest round of HB2 polling from PPP released Wednesday shows North Carolina voters still largely dislike the discriminatory law, with 58 percent saying it's hurt the state to only 22 percent who say it's helped. And here's what it means for GOP Gov. Pat McCrory:
HB2 continues to spell trouble for Pat McCrory. Only 30% of voters in the state support it to 43% who are opposed. By a 12 point margin voters say the way McCrory has handled the issue makes them less likely to vote for him- 43% less likely compared to only 31% who say it makes them more likely to support him.
In fact, McCrory's approval rating has been underwater for 37 months straight—currently 43 percent of voters approve of his job performance to 47 percent who disapprove—and Democratic challenger Roy Cooper is edging him out by one point, 43-42 percent with 11 percent undecided. So in service of winning over new votes, why not pepper your speeches with a few HB2 jokes? Ya know, draw attention to the stench of that smoldering trash heap that's following you around and most recently cost your state $100 million with the NBA’s All-Star Game cancellation? Ol’ Pat opened Donald Trump's North Carolina rally Tuesday with this:
That's not even his best work. Check out video below, which shows the last time Trump was in town.
We’d say “Don’t quit your day job, Pat,” but you totally should.
