Donald Trump took some serious heat from Hillary Clinton on Thursday over his many ties to the “alt right” white supremacist movement. Clinton laid out the kind of case that really needs to be answered if Trump is going to appeal to voters who aren’t comfortable supporting a racist candidate, but top Republicans haven't had much to say. Even when they’ve been forced to say something, they haven’t had much to say:
Uh huh. And Ryan or McConnell would need to have seen every word of it to have a general response to the detailed charges that Trump has well established ties to white nationalists?
I think Sean Spicer knows damn well Congress is in recess, since it’s in the middle of an epically long recess, but I also think he’s aware that members of Congress still have access to phones and their Twitter accounts even from their home districts.
No one has a word of defense for Trump? Not even a cheap attack on Clinton to deflect from the picture she laid out of just how nasty Trump’s record and supporters are? Ouch.
