The family of Keith Scott, shot and killed by Charlotte police on Tuesday evening, has released video of the incident taken by his wife, Rakeyia. The family has viewed police footage of the incident, from body cameras and a dash cam, however police have stated they have no plans to release it to the public anytime soon. Mrs. Scott’s video is recorded on her cell phone as she is walking toward where her husband and the police are.
The actual shooting is not captured by the video. Mrs. Scott is heard throughout the video telling the police her husband does not have a weapon, and that he is “not going to do anything to you guys.” She tells her husband to roll down the window so “they” won’t break it, she tells the police not to shoot him, and she says that he has a “TBI,”—traumatic brain injury. She can also be heard saying “Keith, don’t you do it,” but there is no context for what she referring to. Police can be heard yelling “Hands up” and “Drop the fucking gun.”
The video, while not showing the actual shooting, is still graphic, and is available below.
