Are you registered to vote? If you’re not, there’s still time … but there may not be a lot of it.
Voter registration deadlines in some states come as soon as October 8—Mississippi and South Carolina have an October 8 deadline for all forms of registration, while in Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, and Washington state, October 8 is the deadline to register by mail but you have more time to register in person. Not necessarily a lot more time, though—in Arizona, the deadline for registering in person is October 10. The key battleground states of Florida and Ohio have an October 11 deadline.
You don’t have to sprint to the voter registration office right this minute, in other words, but you can’t put it at the bottom of your to-do list and then procrastinate.
This election matters, in case you haven’t noticed. We’re not just talking about the possibility of President Trump, we’re talking about having a Senate that will confirm (or not) Supreme Court justices who will interpret and reshape our laws for decades to come.
So check out your state's voter registration deadline and find out if you need to register, and get moving. Not only that, but if ever there was a time to nag your friends and family, this would be it.
