It’s hard to say which will get your eyes rolling more … popular vote loser Donald Trump’s grandiose promises, or the stenographic chops on display in this article from The Washington Post, where it begins with:
President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law with the goal of “insurance for everybody” …
… before the inevitable:
Trump declined to reveal specifics in the telephone interview
The Post does manage to acknowledge that this alleged plan is “likely to face questions from the right,” but also includes this remarkable line:
Trump did not say how his program overlaps with the comprehensive plan authored by House Republicans.
Uh, news flash, journalists, THERE IS NO PLAN, comprehensive or otherwise, authored by House Republicans. Anyway, back to Trump. He promises people won’t be dying in streets (unless, maybe, they live in John Lewis’ district?), but everyone in America will be covered. And not just covered, but:
… they’ll be beautifully covered.
And how will this happen?
… he is ready to use the power of the presidency — and Twitter — to usher his legislation to passage.
And there you have it.
