Critics of Team Trump's top white nationalist, Steve Bannon, have long suspected that Bannon was using his old right-wing propaganda outlet Breitbart to plant damaging stories about his White House contemporaries—mainly chief of staff Reince Priebus and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, both of whom are seen as not sufficiently far-right enough for Bannon's tastes.
Bannon, who has in theory resigned from his (cough) "news outlet," has denied he has any control over Breitbart "reporting" negative things about other White House staffers. So it must be just plain coincidence that after a White House fight about the Breitbart stories, the "news" outlet just happened to decide to stop doing that for a while.
Employees at Breitbart News have been asked by senior editors to refrain from writing stories critical of Jared Kushner, two people familiar with the matter told Business Insider. [...]
Soon after the feud spilled out into the public's view, Trump told Bannon and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus he was fed up with the bickering in the press and instructed the pair to "work this out," The Times reported.
In the days that followed, Breitbart conspicuously refrained from leveling criticism against Kushner, choosing to lay off Trump's son-in-law.
It sure is surprising how that works out.
