Popular vote loser Donald Trump abruptly fired the guy who was leading the very investigation that could lead to the downfall of his presidency. Speaking to reporters from the Capitol Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence confirmed that Trump is already searching for James Comey's replacement:
Already this morning, the president is in the process of evaluating individuals who will be able to fill that spot, lead the FBI and restore the confidence of the American people.
Let's be clear: NO ONE TRUMP NOMINATES WILL BE SEEN AS LEGITIMATE, IMPARTIAL OR CAPABLE of carrying out the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to steal the election.
During Trump's Oval Office meeting Wednesday with Russian Foreign Minister Surgey Lavrov, Trump said he fired Comey "because he was not doing a good job." Yet the only reasoning his administration has given for James Comey’s hasty firing pertains to his handling of the inquiry into Hillary Clinton's emails during the campaign, LAST YEAR. The job Comey was presently doing included:
•Under sworn testimony, confirming an FBI investigation into the Trump campaign's potential "coordination" with Russia during the 2016 election
•Under sworn testimony, saying he had "no information" that supported Trump's claim that he was wiretapped by President Obama
•Just days ago, asking for a "significant increase" in resources in order to continue the FBI's investigation into the Trump-Russia ties.
That's the job Comey has been doing ever since Donald Trump got elected and that's the job Trump fired him for.
Donald Trump, who never even won the popular vote, is now insistent on holding on to the one thing he holds most dear: winning the overall election. Anyone who Trump nominates to head the FBI will be working in service of preserving Trump’s most precious win—at any cost to our country.
