The real economists at the Center for Economic and Policy Research have done some math, and boy does Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker make out like a bandit with the #CorkerKickback.
According to Corker's disclosure forms, he makes between $1.2 million and $7.0 million annually in this sort of income. (We don't know how much Donald Trump earns in this type of income since he broke his campaign promise about releasing his tax returns after his audit was completed.) If we plug in the top end $7 million figure, Corker could be saving as much as $1,190,000 from this late addition to the tax bill.
Here's what that looks like compared to that supposed tax break that Florida Sen. Marco Rubio touted for moderate income families.
So maybe Bob Corker will rethink this whole thing. On the other hand, his retirement would be very secure now, so maybe he'll just take the money and run.
Bob Corker was bribed with the #CorkerKickBack, John McCain is unavailable to vote, Susan Collins is waffling, and Doug Jones must be sworn in. The GOP Tax Scam can STILL BE DEFEATED. Pick up the phone, and call your House & Senate members AGAIN at (202) 224-3121. Tell them to vote NO.
