Ty Cobb, Donald Trump’s mustachioed lawyer, says Trump is eager to talk to Special Counsel Robert Mueller (despite recently trying to get Mueller to accept a written statement from Trump). Cobb continues to insist that the investigation will all blow over in a matter of weeks, but he does have one concern:
Cobb said if Mueller did interview Mr. Trump, it could be a perjury trap -- that is, a situation in which his story does not match the evidence -- something Cobb said "foolish" was not to consider.
Yes, it would be foolish not to consider that Trump might perjure himself. Dozens of times over, about matters both central to the investigation and completely inconsequential. Doesn’t actually require a trap, just Donald Trump opening his mouth at all while under oath.
But what a defense: "Your honor, it's well known that my client can't tell the truth about anything."
