Donald Trump has made clear to top aides that he just doesn't give a damn about the national debt crisis he's been inflaming as pr*sident. Trump advisors tell the Daily Beast that Trump is unreachable on the topic of the $21 trillion the country now owes its creditors because he won't be around when it escalates into a full-blown crisis.
The issue reportedly came to a head early last year when his aides presented him with charts revealing a "hockey stick spike" in the already growing national debt, and Trump reacted by noting that the worst wouldn't materialize until he was already out of office, even if he won a second term.
“Yeah, but I won’t be here,” the president bluntly said, according to a source who was in the room when Trump made this comment during discussions on the debt.
So very "Trump First, America Last," just like his entire approach to life. As long he personally doesn't suffer the consequences, who cares? Shrug.
Still so unbelievable that this self-obsessed grifter is the country's top public servant. He is gleefully mortgaging away the future of our children, our children's children, and so forth. And he couldn't care less about it. He has never in his life had to answer for his disastrous financial decisions—Daddy's money always bailed him out.
