NBC has announced moderators—five of them—for the first presidential primary debate. So that makes 20 candidates over two nights, 10 per night, with five moderators. That’s … a lot.
NBC’s Lester Holt will moderate both hours of both debates. He will be joined by Savannah Guthrie and José Diaz-Balart for the first hour of each debate and by Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow for the second hour. (Was the goal here to ensure that while there are women moderating the debate, they are outnumbered at all times by men?)
The debate will be in Miami on June 26 and 27 to accommodate the vast number of candidates without resorting to a kiddie table debate as Republicans did in 2015.
