A second week of public testimony in the impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump begins with a bang on Tuesday with testimony from four witnesses in a single day. The morning session will bring testimony from White House insiders National Security Council member Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and vice presidential adviser Jennifer Williams. An afternoon session features National Security Council official Tim Morrison and special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker.
Vindman, a decorated military veteran, testified previously to his concern about Trump’s communications with Ukraine, which he described as unusual and counter to long-standing policy. For raising his concerns, Vindman was vilified by the right-wing media, including accusations that he was a double agent. The military has since been required to address security concerns following threats against Vindman and his family.
Even though Williams is an adviser to Pence, her appearance before the inquiry earned her attacks from Trump. She was a direct witness to Trump’s July 25 phone call to the Ukrainian president, and to a later call placed by Pence.
The hearings are expected to begin at 9 a.m. ET and are only slated to run until early afternoon, because at 2:30 p.m. ET the second round of hearings begins.
