I had a thought about the similarity between ISIS and the Tea Party, but I wasn’t ready to write this, as I didn’t have enough evidence to convince even Daily Kos readers. My how world events seem to supply the ammunition! Let’s start with the basic reason I felt this way to begin with. In ISIS we have a bunch of radicals that will never be a part of the mainstream. Their dream of world domination has as much a chance of materializing as a snow ball in Hell. Then we have our home grown version of ISIS — the Tea Party — a bunch of radicals that share a view of America that will never happen, as they have yet to realize that there will never be enough beings that resemble them to be of any significance in mainstream politics. So they shut the government down and ISIS brought that plane down. These are just blips on the radar to let you know they exist. What can they really do?
On Friday two weeks ago, we saw a new wrinkle in the ISIS destructive agenda and, sadly, many young lives were lost. Suddenly the world is on high alert and security against future attacks is a top priority. Yet every attack places ISIS in the crosshairs of more members of the civilized world and will cause their numbers to dwindle as retaliation takes its toll, their money from bombed oil fields to dry up and their caliphate to shrink in size. Sounds like a strategy for extinction. I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but my advice to ISIS is carve out a piece of land for your extreme beliefs, close yourselves off from the rest of the world with your limited following and leave the rest of us alone if you hope to continue your existence.
This past Friday, the attack in Colorado of a Planned Parenthood facility has left the right wing fanatics of America with blood on their hands. Whether they be the so-called Christian right (there’s nothing Christian or right about acts of violence) or the Tea Party extremists that grilled Cecile Richards in Congressional hearings, these home-grown terrorists now have blood on their hands, just like ISIS. That goes for the gang of inciters running for the Republican nomination for President — they’re guilty, too, as that numb nut who carried out the shootings must have gotten his ‘facts’ from Fox, other right wing media and/or the politicians who were calling for the destruction of Planned Parenthood.
Words have meaning and consequences that go beyond inflammatory statements to get a lift in the polls. The mental capacity of those people who cheered as Donald Trump wriggled his body in contortions of hate filled speech toward a disabled journalist, whom he obviously knew in order to portray him so despicably, brings to mind another group that should be deported. Does America really need Donald Trump or his ignorant and mean spirited followers? These are the ugly Americans who don’t know their Bible or their Constitution and are outraged that America is changing its face and doesn’t look like them any more. These are the mentally challenged with AK47s, thanks to the NRA, that shoot first and target law enforcement officers, just like ISIS.
When the followers of both religions, Islam and Christianity, can twist their beliefs to include the killing of innocent people to further their agendas, they share common ground. That common ground is like a drug that empowers them in the name of God. “God is a Drug, get your shot of the Lord, you can always get hooked on the Devil, if you find yourself bored!”
