Please... I beg you: Sit down.
In an unprecedented protest against the routine offenses against due process and bodily integrity carried out in the name of the “war on drugs,” the union representing Pittsburgh police officers has condemned workplace drug and alcohol testing as a violation of the Constitution. Their zeal for the right to privacy only applies to themselves, however, not to the public they supposedly serve.
NBC affiliate WPXI reports that the Pittsburgh Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police “has filed a civil rights grievance against the city, claiming officers have been order to undergo drug and alcohol testing that is in violation of their contract.” Union attorney Bryan Campbell describes the policy as “an illegal search and seizure.”
Please go read the entire linked article, do not just go on my snippets, but I assure the reader, I’m not making this up.
I have thought about this for years and clearly it’s just the height of hypocrisy for cops to be excluded from drug testing. It’s absolutely preposterous to even begin to suggest it.
But we live, now, in full-on preposterous times.
It’s pretty damned simple though (which is why I focus on it). Cops must be held to higher standards for a variety of reasons and they all carry deadly weapons and are supposed to have the ‘judgement’ to use them.
So the idea of “cops on drugs” should be somewhat terrifying.
But here they are whining about drug testing, just like the rest of us. It would be hysterical if cops and drug testing hadn’t ruined so many people’s lives for no actual reason.
South Bound Brook, NJ — In yet another of the endless illustration of the fact that police and their political cronies constitute the American equivalent of the Soviet nomenklatura, a police chief who was involved in a drunken hit-and-run collision last Spring, then lied and obstructed the investigation, will not only escape criminal charges, butwill be given a severance package of $260,000 in accumulated salary and benefits — which will include a retroactive increase of his 2015 salary to nearly $150,000.
The article talks specially about an incident in Pittsburgh, Pa involving a police chase and crash. In the rules there, cops are drug tested in 3 situations: seeming impaired, discharging a weapon (which I was unaware actually occurred — it should) or involvement in a collision.
So there was a peculiar car chase and officers actually involved in that chase were subjected to drug testing when other cops had a collision as a result of this chase. They are complaining that this is “unfair”.
Another blatantly obvious
reason for police opposing public scrutiny of their urine is that it could reveal the usage of such things as anabolic steroids. Police officers are no stranger to ‘Vitamin S’ as many of them have not only been caught using the rage-inducing hormones,
but selling them as well.
So the police cheif has a contract stating they can be tested, there’s a lawyer who is saying that this drug-testing is (LOL) a violation of their (lLOL) “Constitutional Rights” (bwahahahahaha, guffaw, guffaw) because the lawyer’s saying the only reason the chief is testing these guys is to evade liability suits.
Which in turn appears to be, of course, financially concerning: the city is in trouble budget-wise and there has been a freeze on pay raises and the like and the police union is whining about that.
How are they dealing with the budget shortfall? I am glad you asked:
So, Pittsburgh’s ‘finest’ are whining bitterly about drug testing even while they demand to keep civil forfeiture in place so they can steal from people rather than work.
Typical drug addicts, don’t you think?
This is utterly ridiculous: Americans have to take drug tests to work at bullshit minimum wage jobs, just to stack shit on a shelf or water the fucking plants. If that is SO GODDAMNED NECESSARY, then it has to be absolutely mandatory: they drive cars, they get into chases and they carry all sorts of knives and guns. They want you to be drug tested every time you leave their sight, but they don’t want to be tested ever: it’s a violation of their rights. They want to use their drugs and steroids and carry guns around and hurting and killing people and to get away with it.
Test them all. Regularly.
