Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina had the opportunity to display a shred of human decency in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo. She failed.
"Do you feel any sense of regret about how you characterized what was going on at Planned Parenthood after the attack in Colorado? Because of what the man said, which seems as though he was influenced by some of the rhetoric that was coming out of you and others that painted a very ugly picture and an unfair one, about Planned Parenthood?" Cuomo asked Fiorina.
"Oh, please, really, Chris?" Fiorina responded. "Nine videotapes have come out about Planned Parenthood. It is very clear what they have been doing. And in fact, Planned Parenthood several weeks ago made a quiet little announcement that they would no longer accept compensation for the sale of what they call fetal tissue. That’s about as close to an admission as you can get. […] What happened in Colorado is a terrible thing," Fiorina said, raising her voice. "This guy is a deranged murderer. … But that has nothing to do with the truth of what is going on in Planned Parenthood."
Even House Republicans—and it is hard to get more extreme and more horrible and more irresponsible than House Republicans—have decided it's time to nix the "baby parts" talk and set aside the Planned Parenthood defunding fight, at least for now while the Colorado Springs massacre is still so raw. Not Fiorina, though. She's right back at the lies about Planned Parenthood and what was in those videos that she's been so loudly and brazenly spouting for months now.
That's quite an achievement. She can't catch Donald Trump in being horrible, but she can beat any Freedom Caucus member any day.
