In a press release Monday, Wisconsin State Representative Bob Gannon (R-Slinger) called upon Wisconsin citizens to execute one another via firearm.
Not a joke, not an off-the-cuff remark, but a formal press release!
Wisconsin does not have a death penalty law, but with significant practice and careful aim, law abiding citizens can help clean our society of these scum bags. Criminals no longer have any fear of our courts or our prisons, so it’s time that the citizens of this fine state stand up and fight back. A gang banger in the mall with a gun is going to think twice if there could be a law abiding CCW holder standing behind them fully prepared to shoot center mass, as this is how you’re trained to eliminate the threat these creeps pose to you, your family, and all law abiding citizens unwillingly dragged into their public crime spree.
Since Wisconsin has no death penalty, this elected official is calling on the “law abiding citizens” of this state to shoot to kill those whom they deem to be scum bags / criminals / creeps / gang bangers.
Citizen judge-jury-executioners.
The call to extreme vigilantism comes in response to a shooting incident at East Towne Mall in Madison on Saturday, in which a 19-year-old was shot in the leg in a “dispute among teens.”
Rep. Gannon is using the shooting to promote a bill he co-sponsored, to force Wisconsin’s universities to allow concealed-carry firearms in campus buildings, presumably so that students and faculty may become judge-jury-executioners too. He blames the shooting on the mall’s gun-free policy.
One can only imagine what would have happened in that crowded mall on the busiest shopping day of the holiday season, with the addition of citizen judge-jury-executioners, “fully prepared to shoot center mass.”
I wasn’t at East Towne Mall on Saturday, but my friends were. My Facebook feed blew up with posts from people who had heard the gunfire, got locked-down in mall stores, had been there just before but left.
And I find myself wondering — how many lives would have been ripped away in a hail of gunfire if Rep. Gannon’s vision of citizen judge-jury-executioners had come to pass that day?
I don’t want to live in Rep. Gannon’s dystopia. And I don’t want to die there either.
How do we find our way out of this?
