There's apparently enough going on in Wisconsin that both Democrats and Republicans have decided to pump some money into the Senate race there, where the polls have tightened between Democrat Russ Feingold and Ron Johnson. Feingold still has the edge, so this could be a last-ditch effort from Republicans to try to save Johnson, with Democrats matching it.
Democrats also have to answer the Koch brothers in the state, of course.
In Wisconsin, Americans for Prosperity—an issue-oriented group that mostly focuses on grassroots organizing—is launching a television advertisement attacking Democratic candidate and former Sen. Russ Feingold on his support of Obamacare.
The $950,000 ad buy, in the only state that AFP is currently running television advertising, was made because the group sees a tightening in the polls that has given supporters of incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson hope that he might win re-election.
They've got more money than God to burn, so they might as well try to save their most pliable lackey. Any glimmer of a tightening race there—and the possibility that FBI Director James Comey has also done their work for them by damaging Clinton at the top of the ticket, just a tiny bit, with his shenanigans—might have been enough to encourage this move.
The polls have tightened, though Feingold has never trailed in the aggregate of polls. But with the Senate—and the Supreme Court!—at stake next Tuesday, it seems no one is willing to take this for granted.
Can you give $3 to help Russ Feingold put this one away?
