If you live in a red or purple area, you know this firsthand. Someone in the line at the grocery store will opine about the ‘millions’ of fraudulent voters. The people eating at the next table at Denny’s discuss how climate change is fake. People who feast on Fox news and other right-wing ‘news’ outlets don’t know anything but the narrow window of information that those shows bring them.
So, I’ve started posting in the comments over at Fox news on facebook. I post polite links to non-partisan (or as best as I can get, since they consider every reputable source as “biased”) news stories, asking why this or that news is not covered by Fox. I’ve asked a few friends to ‘like’ my posts so they stay up toward the top. My hope is that a few people who normally wouldn’t see outside news will read them, follow the links, and educate themselves.
Its a small thing. A very small thing, actually. But I can do it every day, and maybe it will make some changes for some people. So far it has lead to some discussions, which I think is helpful.
