Last Wednesday, Orlandoans protested FedEx for their bone-headed decision to offer steep discounts to National Rifle Association members. FedEx, unlike UPS, is a member of the NRA Business Alliance.
Unfortunately, if you are part of sane America—the ones who DON'T make it easy as hell to put assault rifles with high-capacity magazines in the hands of psychopaths who like to mow down movie-goers, college students or kindergartners—then no discount for you. You are NOT eligible for that 26 percent off select FedEx Express U.S. shipping.
What’s even worse than not getting a discount? Well, by using FedEx, you are:
- Helping pay for the lobbyists who are fighting to allow guns on our college campuses, airport passenger terminals, public schools, and every other public building (except, of course, the state capitol buildings where the legislators are. Hey, there’s some crazy people out there!)
- Supporting the NRA's quest for ever more gun violence: no background checks, no waiting periods, and no sanity check against people on the terror watch list.
- Contributing to the payoffs of weak-minded politicians, like my congressman who accepted blood money just two days after the Pulse shooting. (Actually, make that my now EX-Congressman! :-))
Orlando's newly Democratic state representative, Carlos Guillermo Smith, who was at the protest, declared it was time for us to end the corporate enablers of the NRA.
We might not be able to shut down the NRA anytime soon, but at the very least, we don’t have to contribute to them this holiday season.
They’ve taken enough from us already.

More reasons to hate FedEx:
- They are aggressively anti-union and force their drivers (FedEx Ground) to buy and maintain their trucks. UPS is unionized and has competitive prices.
- UPS has also banned the shipment of shark fins, which FedEx refuses to do.
There's really no reason to ever use FedEx. #GrabYourWallet #BoycottFedEx
