Donald Trump is a walking septic tank, part the hundredth:
But Trump’s primary method for asserting dominance was sex. The school’s yearbook—the perfectly named Shrapnel—anointed him the official “ladies man” of the class. He began his lifelong practice of advertising his bedroom exploits as a means of demonstrating his authority over the rest of the locker room. Decades later, he’s still trumpeting his sexual exploits. When Tucker Carlson once mocked him on air, Trump called the pundit and left a voicemail: “It’s true you have better hair than I do. But I get more pussy than you do.”
The whole thing is worth a read if you want a fuller picture of just how vile Trump's misogyny has been throughout his life, or maybe you should just give it a pass if you want to retain some bit of respect for humanity. The short version: Every woman Donald Trump has ever met or heard about he seems to have insulted or belittled or treated purely as a sexual object. But this I think is a valuable insight:
This is one reason that evangelicals, both men and women, gravitate to Trump, despite his obvious lack of interest in religion and blatantly loose morals. He represents the possibility of a return to patriarchy, to a time when men were men, and didn’t have to apologize for it.
Many of the things that horrify us about Donald Trump are, in fact, why so much of the base likes him. They think it's about time we have a president who can put the womenfolk in their place. They're quite happy to see a president who will assure them that his personal physical attributes are bigly. They see his belligerence toward other nations as manly and honest, compared to the usual more diplomatic mumblings designed to perhaps not insult our allies and non-allies; insulting them is the thing a Strong Leader would do.
Again, this isn't about Trump. This is about a base that hears what Trump has to say, and likes it. That's the Republican Party's problem. He has no patience for the usual euphemisms, and blurts things out, and the coalition of people that the party has cultivated as their base are giddy that finally a leader has appeared who has the spine to say those things.
