It’s official! For the first time in our history, the United States has nominated a woman to head a major party ticket, and yesterday, on the final night of the 2016 Democratic National Convention, she accepted (full transcript at link).
Tonight, we’ve reached a milestone in our nation’s march toward a more perfect union: the first time that a major party has nominated a woman for President.
Standing here as my mother’s daughter, and my daughter’s mother, I’m so happy this day has come.
Happy for grandmothers and little girls and everyone in between.
Happy for boys and men, too — because when any barrier falls in America, for anyone, it clears the way for everyone. When there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit.
So let’s keep going, until every one of the 161 million women and girls across America has the opportunity she deserves.
Because even more important than the history we make tonight, is the history we will write together in the years ahead.

U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton cast herself as the steady leader at a "moment of reckoning" for America, contrasting her character with what she described as a dangerous and volatile Donald Trump.
In the biggest speech of her quarter century in politics, Clinton on Thursday accepted the Democratic presidential nomination for the Nov. 8 election with a promise to make the United States a country that worked for everyone.
"We are clear-eyed about what our country is up against. But we are not afraid," she said.

We’ve scored a huge, historic victory. I hope you all were able to bask in it as much as I did last night, at my house party in the great swing state of Ohio:-) Today, though, the real work begins. Let’s harness last night’s energy and make sure we knock every door and register every voter to deliver a landslide for Hillary, our nominee, in November! Yes We Can, because we are Stronger Together!
