Robert Lange has been doing work in Africa since the 1980s, first around teaching science, then solarizing villages. For the last few years, he has combined solar lighting with more efficient cookstoves designed with and built by Maasai women and men using local materials. Now he has progressed to solarizing whole family compounds, bomas, with microgrids with solar lights and chargers for cell phones, training local teams to do the work and the maintenance.
His operation is very small but has a big impact for the Maasai people in Tanzania and beyond. You can find out more about his work at
