Campaign Action
So Matt Lauer is the laughingstock of the nation, including his media peers and even the execs at his workplace:
One executive, speaking anonymously, was blunt about it: "Disaster."
The morning after Lauer's back-to-back interviews of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, several high ranking sources at the network said they hear the criticism and agree with at least some of it.
Who could have predicted that the host of a puffy morning program would have done a terrible job moderating a forum on national security? Apparently not NBC, who seemingly gave the gig to Lauer because “NBC News and MSNBC chairman Andy Lack, a longtime friend of Lauer's, was intimately involved in the forum planning and execution.” Well then, glad NBC, Lack, and Lauer are taking this “presidential election” thing with the seriousness and dignity it deserves!
So … picking your friends to moderate is one way to do things … but how about this for an alternative?
I like! The Clinton campaign might’ve picked someone like Rachel Maddow, Mellisa Harris-Perry, or Bill Moyers. Trump would’ve picked some schlub off Breitbart or Ann Coulter to ask about their latest conspiracy theories on chemtrails or whatnot.
Or they could’ve just picked Matt Lauer and had pretty the same effect.
