Popular vote losing vice president-elect Mike Pence met with congressional Republicans today, and they all came out of it gung-ho to repeal Obamacare immediately. How they're going to do it and what they're going to do after remains extremely hazy, but that's not going to stop them. They'll rush to destroy Obamacare, then try to pick up the pieces later. And, oh yeah, they'll blame the disaster part on Democrats.
House Republicans are planning to get an ObamaCare repeal bill on President-elect Trump's desk by Feb. 20, while the administration moves forward with executive actions to start unwinding ObamaCare on day one. […]
Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.), an early Trump supporter, added that, "The president in his first day in office is going to do some level of executive orders related to ObamaCare."
But Collins said there were "no details whatsoever" on the orders discussed in the meeting.
No details! Collins also says they have six months to figure out a replacement, and—newsflash—"We don't have a plan today." But really, they'll have one, says Speaker Ryan. They've got "plenty of ideas" that they'll reveal in the months ahead. When have we heard that before? Oh yeah, literally more times than we can count since 2010.
What they are clear on is that it will be a disaster when it all comes apart, but they'll blame that on Democrats. That was the main message of Pence's meeting with Republicans Wednesday, when he "implored GOP lawmakers in a closed meeting to tell their constituents 'the truth'—that Democrats are still to blame for any of the law's failures." Of course. But somehow I don't think people who have health insurance now under President Obama and lose it under President Trump are going to buy it.
Meanwhile,
Yeah, this’ll be popular.
