Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking into a meeting between Putin table-mate Michael Flynn and Moscow regular, Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA).
The meeting allegedly took place in Washington the evening of Sept. 20, while Flynn was working as an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. It was arranged by his lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group. Also in attendance were Flynn’s business partners, Bijan Kian and Brian McCauley, and Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked closely with his father, the sources said.
Months before Natalia Veselnitskaya dropped in on Trump Tower to talk the Magnitsky Act with Donald Trump’s campaign team, Rohrbacher had his own meeting with the Russian lawyer. Veselnitskaya didn’t even have to bring any “dirt” to secure the get together—Rohrabacher has been fighting to drop Russian sanctions for years. In 2012, the FBI even visited the California congressman to warn him that Russian spies were trying to recruit him, a fact that didn’t stop Rohrbacher from making multiple trips to Russia since then. In fact, the meeting he had with Veselnitskaya, was held in Moscow. He went on to meet with other Russian officials and collect “confidential” documents to support dropping sanctions.
Over the summer, Rohrabacher also dropped in on Julian Assange, after which he even suggested to Trump that he slip a pardon to the Wikileaks founder. That Rohrbacher was meeting with Flynn during the campaign … is not the least bit surprising. The only question is which of them was pitching Russia-based information and which one was catching.
Rohrabacher is not exactly the soul of discretion. Despite meeting with Flynn, Assange, Veselnitskaya, and assorted Russian officials, he still hasn’t gotten the idea that this might not be the best time to play Moscow’s congressional spokesperson. Instead, Rohrabacher has some great ideas on how Trump could double-down on conspiracy and obstruction in one slick move.
The proposal made by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R., Calif.), in a phone call Wednesday with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, was apparently aimed at resolving the probe of WikiLeaks prompted by Mr. Assange’s publication of secret U.S. government documents in 2010 through a pardon or other act of clemency from President Donald Trump.

Rohrabacher’s lack of any sense of decency has also made him an ideal Trump backer in situations that made other Republicans shy away. As when Rohrabacher contended that what happened in Charlottesville was a left-wing hoax.
"It was a setup for these dumb Civil War re-enactors," Rohrabacher said. "It was left-wingers who were manipulating them in order to have this confrontation" and to "put our president on the spot."
Like that clever left-winger who manipulated a poor dumb re-enactor into killing her by driving his car into a crowd of pedestrians.
There’s no firmer supporter of Vladimir Putin than Dana Rohrabacher. That’s true whether you’re canvassing the United States House of Representatives, or the Russia Duma. And there’s no representative more deserving of being entangled in the Trump–Russia investigation.
