The December, 2016 issue of MIT Technology Review has a stunning article, “Hotter Days Will Drive Global Inequality,” which features a global map of the economic winners and losers of climate change—and there are some terrible losers:
India’s economy loses 37%
Brazil loses 28% of its economic vitality.
Nigeria’s economy drops 39%.
Essentially all the tropical countries suffer terribly as climate warms, storms intensify, deserts expand and crops wither.
Mid-latitude countries pretty much break even: the US loses 5% of its economic vitality, Britain gains 9%, and China drops 7%.
On the other hand, the world’s Northernmost countries do extremely well, as the temperate zones move north, as growing seasons lengthen and winters get shorter: The Nordic countries show significant improvement. Kazhakstan’s economy expands significantly.
But there are two countries that benefit remarkably from global warming:
Canada’s economy expands 35%, which is not surprising, given how much of its land lies north of the Arctic Circle.
However, the real winner of the global warming sweepstakes is the same country which is trying to destabilize the climate accords, the same country which is interfering with the politics of all the countries leading the way in fighting climate change—and it is the same country that benefits the most not only from improved climate but also from increasing access to its Arctic oil reserves as the Arctic ice melts:
RUSSIA’S ECONOMY EXPANDS 47% WITH THE ASSIST OF GLOBAL WARMING.
—AND IT EXPANDS EVEN FASTER AND FURTHER WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF $500 BILLION IN DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FROM EXXON MOBIL AND ITS FORMER CHAIRMAN--THE US SECRETARY OF STATE.
OH, AND BY THE WAY, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A NARCISSISTIC, GLOBAL WARMING DENYING, LEADER OF THE US--WHO IS DEDICATED TO DESTROYING THE CLIMATE ACCORDS AND TO ENDING THE US CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD’S BURGEONING RENEWABLE ENERGY FUTURE.
Also, Russia takes over the most favored geographic location from the US—since the US loses much of its agricultural pre-eminenece as the Bread Basket moves North to the plains of Manitoba and the steppes of Russia.
So, you want Putin’s long game: Here it is:
Because of the geographically effects of global warming, Russia can take out the economic vitality of much of the rest of the world without even having to fire a shot—as rising carbon dioxide increases global temperatures and burns much of the rest of the world’ s economy to the rapidly desertifying, cracked ground...while Russia becomes an economic colossus as Siberia’s agricultural capacity expands exponentially and the melting Arctic Ice Cap reveals huge new deposits of Russian petroleum, natural gas and methane hydrates.
