The Washington Post is reporting that the notorious crackpot conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ site Info Wars was probably Trump’s source for his preposterous claim the media was covering up terrorist attacks.

President Trump made a whopper of a claim on Monday, suggesting that the media is deliberately ignoring terrorist attacks.
"It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported," he said to military leaders at U.S. Central Command. "And in many cases the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that."
Instead, the kernel of the idea appears to have come from -- or at least been propagated by -- one of his favorite news sources: the conspiracy theory website InfoWars.
Former congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) has also pushed this idea, posting a video from InfoWars back in August under the headline, "TERROR ATTACK: Massive media cover-up." And it's a theme that has cropped up on other conspiracy theory and right-wing websites from time to time.
InfoWars has helped propagate the baseless theory that millions of people illegally voted, depriving Trump of a popular-vote win. It was a major player in pushing the birther conspiracy. It was an early player in the "Hillary for Prison" game, having started selling t-shirts bearing the slogan in the fall of 2015. And it has pushed the baseless idea that Muslims cheered in the streets on 9/11.
All of these have also been embraced by Trump, and now it appears we can add one more to the list.
What was Alex Jones warning his adherents about yesterday? That Lady Gaga would be ”the Whore of Babylon” conducting a “Satanic Ritual” during her Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Here are some excerpts from Alex Jones’ rambling rant
“The organizers of the Super Bowl are deciding to defile America and break our will by having us bow down to this.”

“On top of the stadium, ruling over everyone with drones everywhere, surveilling them, in a big swarm. To just condition them that ‘I am the goddess of Satan ruling over you with the rise of the robots’. In a ritual of lesser magic they have to tell you what they are planning in the future. So what they’re saying: ‘The Rise of the machines is here. You are broken you are fallen’, and I squat on top of you and basically piss all over you”.
Then Jones does his manipulative best to elicit hatred of his cultural and political straw villains.
“All of these people think they’re dominant because they don’t have any empathy or care about humanity. All of us should stop being so pathetic, and start boycotting her, and boycotting the Super Bowl, and realize these are sick chicken necked, filthy, little people who have it out for us and our families.”

By almost all accounts, Lady Gaga’s halftime Super Bowl performance was astounding, the singer’s stage antics wowing all those watching.
However, before the match started, infamous alt-right spokesperson and InfoWars founder Alex Jones took to Facebook to warn followers not to watch Gaga’s show because she’s the spawn of Satan and part of the ‘New World Order’.
The alt-right movement, a loose group of people with far right ideologies who reject mainstream Conservatism, has been associated with white supremacism, Islamophobia, antifeminism and anti-Semitism.
THIS Is the kind of filth media Trump routinely consumes.
