Forget about the New England Patriots.
The biggest comeback in the last week belongs to Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, who in one stroke of the pen will get rid of a pesky criminal investigation into whether he misused state funds while carrying on with his mistress.
Bentley is appointing Luther Strange to replace Jeff Sessions in the Senate.
Strange is the current attorney general of Alabama and, as such, has supposedly been leading an investigation into Bentley’s embarrassing affair with his communications director.
But Strange has long coveted a seat in the U.S. Senate. And Bentley desperately needs to make that criminal probe go away.
So Strange gets his dream job and Bentley gets to appoint a new attorney general, a crony who will suddenly decide that there is nothing to see with that ugly affair thing.
Let’s see Tom Brady pull off a comeback like that!
